The Birth of An Idea

First, some introduction. The continuing wave of poetry is sweeping across Kenya. Nanyuki has not been left behind. On 5th August this year, Lily Pond Arts Centre was the gracing hall of drama and poetry talent. That is how "Thank God It's Friday (TGIF)" idea came about. It was thought that every first Friday of every month was to be a moment to celebrate poetry.

However, brilliant as the performamces might be, there was a need to have a forum, a platform where brilliant ideas could be shared and stored. This blog is one such move.

As to the whys and wherefores, this is just the first post ( a test post at that). TGIF will be a place to watch.

  1. The Lily Pond Arts Centre was excited to host TGIF in its first of many poetry slams. The arts (in the broadest sense) need to be encouraged and it was great to see like minded people come together and share their creativity. Nanyuki isn't going to be left behind, it is fast becoming the epi centre for the arts in Kenya!
